This ART is part of “a Series of artworks nothing at all innocent, full of strong contradictions as the artist usually says…trying to transgress the senses with a great symbolic burden. And for this collection she has resorted to elements of popular iconography, to the aesthetics of the toy to create exclusive artworks as this SECOND one.

An Art Toy collection, where she wants to tell, draw and sculpt how “childhood innocence as we know it is facing an ominous threat. An all too familiar figure is showing its immortality and grip in a way we’re not used seeing. This results in defying artworks dominated by strong thematic contradictions. However, the conflicting scenery’s are always playfully accompanied by a peculiar irony.

BIO: Khaddouj Barghout (1999) lives and works in Rotterdam (NL).

Being fascinated by strong contradictions, she portrays

conflicts between purity and vulgarity, between grace and depravity.

This leaves horror and l. to merge together into detailed and defying artworks.

The use of detail and strong contrasts is beneficial to the depiction of the constant
underlying presence of dread, rage and madness.

However, on the surface she plays with a peculiar wittiness which leaves the
viewer all the more trapped in contrariety.
