CONCEPT: Here you find 3 original creatures made separately that have been united in the same composition. From left to right:

Swans.It´s carved from hawthorn wood and untreated. It was inspired by the folklore of hairy Wild men that in our mythology became the green man which is a left over pagan deity that is often carved into hidden areas of churches in the UK.

BEARMAN is carved from hawthorn burnished and treated with Danish oil. It was inspired by shaman who use various animal forms to journey through the liminal realms (occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold)

Selkie II is carved from hawthorn and untreated.Selkie is inspired by the British folklore of seals that transform into women to come on to the land to find a man. When they leave the sea they take off there seal suit. If the man finds the suit, hiding it will prevent the selkie returning to the sea.

The box in which they are displayed has been handmade by framing professionals. The front glass is the same used for Museums. And it gives the feeling that the work has no glass and that you can take the work by hand. It also prevents reflexes. The passepartout that we have used has also been chosen by us. The box has a weight of about two kilograms. It can be hung on a wall or displayed in a shelf (we invite to see photos displayed in Gallery and in our Studio in LINK above)

Australian buyers this carving has no bark and no defects that will cause trouble at customs. We will add full details on the outside of the box such as wood type, heat treated, lemon oil, etc. This kind of art by Tach has been successfully shipped to Australia without problem.

BIOGRAPHY: Tach Pollard lives in the UK. He started collecting oak roots as a child when he moved close to the woods. He would wake up before school and grab a wheel barrow to haul his finds back home before school. Once he had a few he then spent time cleaning them back to their skeletal forms. His Dad had a shop in Brighton and allowed me to sell the roots on a stall outside.

Much later in life he came across the pile of discarded roots from childhood and decided to carve them...
