Samuel de Sagas is a Spanish artist. With an art that goes beyond an easily cognitive reality, beyond physicality, to know the interior, the volatile and ephemeral, but tangible like feelings and the unconscious. "The boy of hearts" who is also dedicated to painting hearts inspired by pop culture and the contemporaneity we live in

#####

About: ..."After the journey that is life, you always have to stop, reflect, see where we come from and where we are going. The King of Hearts is a description of the mind of an artist who tries to find his own expressive Freedom. That flow of his own mind to a graphic form, where memories, references, traumas overcome and not, become a pop madness every morning in front of a mirror."

"For me, this painting is the most personal thing I have ever done! It is a faceless self-portrait where only the thoughts are, each character symbolizes monsters, traumas that have been overcome but also positive emotions and the pop culture that has helped me grow so much and that at the same time they have become a creative and emotional madness. I also wanted to represent what my mind is like inside. Try to explain the agglutination of thoughts, emotions, memories, hobbies of each second. It is like entering my mind and knowing that each decision has been made for the heart, which in Asian culture has to do with the intellect and which is a group decision within the artist's own head, because I am my past, my present, my traumas overcome and not my failures, my escapes, my victories. A constant struggle that is reflected every morning when I wake up and they ask me where we are going on this journey that is life. "

"The painting is a reflection on the mind of an artist. On how his inner world works. How his own inner monsters can become allies. Each character symbolizes and is something in particular! The" faceless "are the traumas that we have overcome , and that they always accompany us, that is why he puts his hand on our shoulder and is smiling because he has not helped us to grow. The Mr. Crab who is behind tells us about the expectations that we can see in the future, a more rational part, and That is why it seems that it almost says something to the main character. The smile refers to madness, to that part in which sometimes we do not control anything and we let ourselves be carried away, which is precisely next to a heart that looks at you suspiciously. What do you suspect or who do you suspect? For me clearly the small heart and Patricio speak directly to the viewer! as if they were saying: "Yes! We are all here or is it that you don't see it?" it is a kind of challenge posed between the painting and the viewer! ...
Then there are hidden characters like Mickey Mouse that cannot be seen in the mirror or Pikachu that is at the bottom of everything! ... they speak of the most loyal part of each individual. From the beginning and the end of innocence. That is why they are in the foreground and in the background. Then on the other hand there is the character of the Rugrats that refers to the intellect, something that grows over time. Finn the human bows to fun, spontaneity and finally we have Doraemon who is barely seen !, and the character wears a Mickey Mouse shower cap as a crown, hence the title of the piece of art. ...
The whole scene is painted as if it were a glass mirror where some stickers are attached, the tastes and interests of the main character, it has a fluorescent light and attached to the side as if it were a design mirror, there is the marble part with a clock and symbols that refer to pokemon. As if the main character were his own trainer. But in this case he is the coach of his own life. That is why he got up every morning, looks in the mirror, and tries to see himself with everything around him and when he cleanses he tries to remove the impurity and continue growing. and as the last detail in the mirror there is a phrase that says "i love me" and it seems that it is made with your own finger and the steam from the bathroom has let you see it as a reminder to always be on the right track."
