ARTWORKs: Duality I & Duality II

CONCEPT: Mentalink stands out as a versatile artist who masters both mural art and studio art, a duality that is masterfully captured in the artworks "DUALITY 1" and "DUALITY 2". These two paintings are an exceptional example of his mastery of spray paint, a medium that he uses with precision both in his urban murals and in these studio paintings.

The meticulous process he follows to create these artworks is worthy of admiration. Through a meticulous technique, he carefully masks different areas of the paintings, using the characteristic colors that are in his street art. This approach allows him to establish a unique connection between his 2 forms of expression.

The complexity of his creative process is manifested in the careful planning and execution of each layer on canvas with spray paint. Mentalink begins his work digitally, then breaks it down into layers and applies the spray paint layer by layer, achieving a striking visual effect.

These two artworks have been part of the exhibition "RUIDO" in Valencia, 2024, where the artist wanted to talk about and give meaning to his fears and insecurities in the creative processes...representing them as birds.

A deep reflection on the emotional and creative complexities that underlie each brushstroke through the metaphor of birds, capturing with "DUALITY 1" and "DUALITY 2" precisely the duality of the artist. Immersing us in a symbolic world where he wants to reflect the emotional ups and downs that every creator faces when bringing their projects to life. Showing purity and decay. Vegetation being a symbol of purity and rottenness in one, and flourishing in the other...

ARTIST: MENTALINK (SPAIN)

ABOUT: Mentalink also known as David, is a young muralist from the city of Valencia, Spain. He grew up painting in factories in Valencia and learning the technique from lettering artists…

Based on the roots of graffiti, he delves into the soul of the city, infusing his work with urban narratives.

His work is based on vector illustration, the use of flat colors and rounded shapes. Added to this is an imaginary of creatures linked to the urban environment that he illustrates to tell a story or an idea. Sometimes these characters can be reminiscent of animals or found in natural environments, but all these creations are marked by a strong influence from the world of graphic design.

His art, a mix of vector illustration and vibrant colors, depicts vivid scenes, settings and characters from urban environments.

With a great eye for composition, he creates meticulous murals, and his work shows scenes from the streets and the world of graffiti through characters that seem to originate from another world
Mentalink's work is a living entity, evolving with new techniques, materials and tools, leaving a lasting impression on the urban canvas.

He trained at an art and technology school, where he met people and artists and illustrators from all over the world, which led him to express his art on walls. From that day on, his interest in movement grew.

Artists such as Aryz, DXTR, HNRX, Smithe, Ruin, Akacorleone, Nano… have been his greatest references since he was very young until now in terms of illustration and urban art.

Trained as a designer and illustrator at the ESAT (school of art and design of Valencia), he went on to share a studio with some members of the XLF (a street art group of great prestige in Valencia), there he further immersed himself in the world of street art.

His artworks always have very marked compositions and shapes that come from his studies as a graphic designer. There is always a huge concern for the structure, the colours and where the lines end.
