Softrolls is one of the most recognizable series by Hariken, the character brand created by Japanese designer Kenichi Hariu. Hariken’s universe revolves around its “Smile Toys” and those clumsy, endearing, energy-filled characters.

Softrolls is a creature somewhere between a soft-serve ice cream swirl and a troll. There is something essential to well-made sofubi in it: color, gesture, and rarity. Its appeal does not come from continuous mass production, but from the distinctive rhythm of artist-made sofubi, shaped by small batches, colorways, and special editions for stores or events.
