“Toy Maker” is a special edition released in 2018 on the occasion of the Forever Toys exhibition, and it holds a key place within Dhani Barragán’s trajectory: it is the first print in the Dhu Stories series, the universe in which the artist begins to develop his anthropomorphic characters as a way of projecting his view of contemporary visual culture and, more specifically, of the Art Toy imaginary.

In this work, Barragán constructs a scene charged with narrative, paying tribute to several Art Toys featured in that exhibition and placing the piece at the origin of a universe that would later become firmly established within his practice. Dhani Barragán (Seville, 1989) develops a visual language in which Neo Pop, graphic surrealism, and popular iconography coexist, transforming recognizable references into images of greater emotional density. His works are part of private collections across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
