Description

In Dhani Barragán’s artistic universe, pop culture is the raw material through which we build memory and identity.

Through two lines of work, Deconstructed Pop and Dhu Stories, the artist develops a critical view of contemporary visual culture: how we consume images, how they remain with us, and how they eventually become part of the way we look at the world.

In Deconstructed Pop, Dhani Barragán opens the seams of recognizable animation icons, exposing their stuffing as if they were plush toys worn down by use, repetition, and visual consumption.
In Dhu Stories, he presents animal characters that interact with, play with, carry, or devour those same icons from our visual memory.

In this Fine Art Print, the worn plush toy — usually a victim of use and wear — becomes the main character. An urban shaman. A survivor advancing through the snow, dressed in the totems of our visual memory.

This Fine Art Print works as a perfect bridge between two series by Dhani Barragán, showing an identity built from the remains of pop culture: from everything we have seen, consumed, and carried with us over the years.
