This original drawing by Dhani Barragán is the preparatory study for the painting the artist presented at “Pink Phink”, an exhibition held in Madrid in 2023 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Pink Panther, where different contemporary artists reinterpreted the iconic character created by Friz Freleng.

The work belongs to Dhani Barragán’s “Deconstructed Pop” universe, a series where recognizable characters appear opened, worn, and transformed into vulnerable figures.
Here, the most unsettling gesture is also the most playful: the character eats a small cake that shares its own name. It consumes itself.

An image about desire, visual identity, and the way an icon can become, at the same time, memory, product, sweet, toy, and obsession.

A one-of-a-kind drawing that preserves the first gesture, the first idea, and the most direct line behind the final painting.
