“Springfield Deconstructed” was the first series within Dhani Barragán’s “Deconstructed Pop” universe, started in 2019: a body of work where pop icons appear with open seams and visible stuffing, like plush figures worn down by years of visual consumption.

The series was released in three versions: original color, desaturated color, and black and white, each one as a limited edition of 33 prints per character.
On one of those numbered black and white prints of each character, Judas Arrieta intervened the artwork by adding his own visual language: graffiti-like lines, manga energy, handwritten phrases, symbols, references, and chaotic layers of color.

The result is a piece where Dhani Barragán opens the body of the pop icon and Judas Arrieta breaks into the surface, expands it, and turns it into something chaotic and alive.

Judas Arrieta is one of the most recognized Spanish contemporary artists working at the intersection of pop culture, manga, and contemporary art. His work is part of collections such as the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Casa Asia Barcelona, the Embassy of Spain in Japan, and CajaMadrid, and has been exhibited in Spain, the United States, Finland, Japan, Korea, and China. In 2025, he was a finalist for the BMW Painting Prize with “DESFILE DE YOKAI (HANA-BI)”.

Dhani Barragán — Seville, 1989 — works between Neo Pop, graphic surrealism, and contemporary iconography. His work has been exhibited in Spain, Indonesia, and the United States, is part of private collections across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and he maintains a close collaboration with Art Toy Gama.
