Description

This original work by Celipe Perroloco uses a recycled magazine page as its support, transforming an object of mass consumption into a space of visual tension and social critique.

On the reverse side, a model wearing a watch is still visible: the trace of a world linked to fashion, status, elegance and aspirational imagery.

But on the side intervened by the artist, we find characters with blue faces, disproportionate heads and bodies that seem to merge with their own tools.
At the top, the word ICON is covered by barred and crossed-out structures. Celipe dismantles the ideal of the aspirational “icon” and replaces it with a rawer scene: characters trapped between identity, work and environment.

A page designed to sell desire becomes a work about a society that reduces us to the function we perform.

Through painting, illustration and design, Celipe transforms humble materials —paper, cardboard, recycled supports— into pieces with an intense, strange identity, full of strength and expressiveness.
