This work by Dhani Barragán belongs to "Deconstructed Pop", the artist’s most recognizable series, where the icons of our childhood appear with their seams split open and their stuffing exposed. At times, those cartoon characters blend into one another until they become a new figure, as if all those pop memories no longer lived in order, but instead returned mixed up, distorted, and rebuilt.

In this print, the hero is no longer saving the galaxy. He is more of an everyday hero, caught somewhere between pop epic and daily survival, simply trying to make it to the end of the day with a promise far more real than any space mission: a cold beer.

Dhani Barragán (Mairena del Aljarafe, Seville, 1989), holds a Fine Arts degree from the University of Seville and develops a language in which popular art, pop surrealism, and contemporary iconography coexist. His work is part of contemporary art collections such as the CAC Málaga, as well as various private collections.
