CONCEPT: My series of Victorian dolls is an occasion to review and recall the role played by women of the Victorian aristocracy and bourgeoisie. The sophistication and elegance of their dresses could not hide the double morality, submission, and anodyne life to which they were subjected by strict codes of social conduct. They carried the message of a dominant social class. The sumptuous starched dresses, in crinoline petticoat, helped to mark more the rigid class system of the Victorian era (1837-1901).
As with all my Geeks, the faces of my dolls contradict and denounce that staging that was Victorian fashion.
One of a kind Art. Unique.

BIOGRAPHY: ALEXANDRA C. THOMAS was born in Lima, Peru. She left architecture studies for painting. She has participated in collective exhibitions and is currently preparing in this 2017 her first solo exhibition. Lately, her artwork is oriented to Art Toy, within the subgenre of Art Doll. She claims that the toy as a genre has gained, in its own right, an artistic status. Her characters, whom she calls geeks, seek to reflect on how strange, eccentric and strange this world is. Her artworks are not narratives. She considers that the act of choosing and creating her characters constitutes, in itself, the discourse of the object, since that act of choice is contextualized within a line of work and reflection.
